Conversion according to heritage protection guidelines

Konzept

In the course of the urban planning development project "Neue Mitte Altona” (new centre Altona), the walls and courtyard areas of the former freight depot will be refurbished and used for the future local supply of the residents. The new design of the open spaces surrounding the listed building is in line with the heritage protection criteria. As a result, the existing historical natural stone paving will be used.

In order to ensure a high level of barrier-free and user-friendly accessibility, wheelchair approaches, as well as stairs and ramps, lead to the buildings. The courtyard area serves as an approach and parking opportunity for the customers of the local traders. It has a large number of car parking spaces, some of which are equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles.

In the centre islands of the courtyard areas, the park is sufficiently lit by modern, energy-saving LED columns. They form a creative contrast to the existing ensemble of listed buildings. Restaurants with terraces in front for outdoor catering are located in the front building of the east halls and in the connecting building. Individually planted solitary trees and blossoming shrubs form a contrast to the natural stone paving, giving the site splashes of colour.
