Spa House Forecourt, Bad Oeynhausen

New appearance

Konzept

The expansive landscape garden ensemble by the renowned garden architect Peter Joseph Lenné, whose spa garden, park axis and spa house compose a single historical entity, is located in the centre of Bad Oeynhausen. The area in front of the spa house is redefined as a multifunctional public square with representational impact and is carefully integrated into the existing spatial sequence.
The slope of the terrain extends along the entire park axis and is consolidated by steps and three different interlocking plaza levels to form a single large, continuous terrace. Benches along the perimeter and seating steps at the edge of the square invite people to linger and offer a highly welcoming atmosphere to spa guests, local inhabitants and others, both young and old.
A water feature with lit fountains of varied heights is coordinated with the plaza lighting and illuminates the square in the evening hours. The town and the spa house’s resident varieté theatre can use the square as an open-air event venue.
