International School of Hamburg

Green Curves

Konzept

Until 2010, the new building of the International School of Hamburg (ISH) was built on an approximately 40,000 m² undeveloped site in an existing landscape conservation area. Due to the growing amount of students, in 2012 the building was extended to include a further wing with 12 classrooms, offices and an additional sports hall.

The main task of this project was the integration of the existing vegetation. Hence the organic design was made very "flexible", taking into account the vegetation worthy of protection.

The organic nature of the concept will be emphasised by the curved concrete benches that line the paths.
