Porsche Pavilion, Autostadt Wolfsburg Prominent location

Konzept

In view of the urban densification, the prominent location close to the entrance piazza in front of the VW utility vehicle pavilion was chosen for the construction of the Porsche pavilion.

The architecture and setting take up the stylistic elements of the soft grassy hills, re-interpreting them and hence integrating them into the lagoon landscape. The stairway by the water has been continued and leads to a covered arena. The park landscape and factory serve as a backdrop for temporary events. Individual spheres of common boxwood run like pearls down the concrete steps, to then take up permanent positions.

The space in front of the, which has been newly created by the Porsche utility vehicle pavilion has been transformed into a “piazzetta”. The main focal point of this piazzetta is a new fountain with a rhythmically pulsating play of water, which pours over the square. An ash tree as a symbol for Yggdrasil, the World Tree, and bald cypresses that wander towards the water with “wet feet”, create an intimate plaza. Spontaneous play is very much desired here!
