Bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, Hamburg Games in the harbour

Konzept

On the occasion of the city of Hamburg’s application for the hosting of the Olympic Games in 2012, a draft design was conceived, in collaboration with Gerkan, Marg und Partner, at the water’s edge, with all the sports venues in a radius of 10 km. An Olympic Games of short distances and a particularly important signal of Hamburg’s urban development: the urban development and landscape leap across the Elbe river towards Veddel, Wilhelmsburg and Harburg.

Unfortunately, London won the Olympic contest however in Hamburg the dream of becoming a sports venue is by no means over. The city is currently “open-endedly” evaluating the possibility of an application to host the summer Olympics 2024 or 2028.
